UNGRATEFUL MAN OF GOD

"You have been suspended indefinitely from the deacon board but you can come to church but you won't serve in any capacity in the church." Pastor Femi said in fury to Deacon Jasper who was looking straight at him, wishing to take back all the money he gave to the church amounting to several tens of million. "Are you for real Pastor? And for what? Did I steal, did I cheat, did I lie?" Mr Jasper replied Pastor Femi. Mr Jasper continued. "All my 10 years in this church, I have done only the right things." "Yes not until you took that contract that have taken you away from God, your own family, the church and everything else. Look how blinded you are in your self righteousness." Pastor Femi replied "You are not being serious pastor, my prosperity scares you, my new multimillion dollar contract scares you, you are nothing but obsessed with loyalty and all this blind ideals that are utopian to this clime " Jasper retorted. "You are only concerned about results and you neglect the means to the ends. You are being driven by the immediate needs to show yourself wealthy among men." Pastor Femi defended. Mr Jasper stirred at pastor Femi briefly, waved his head in disappointment and turned to face the door, waited for a while and left the pastor's office and headed home. When he got home, he reflected on what it was that warranted the suspension from the deacon board at first place. Cloud of tears gathered in his eyes ready to rain tears in regrets, he remembered many multibillion naira contracts that he didn't accept all because he was playing church. What he wanted was to make so much money so he can support the church projects in large scale but pastor Femi always want him to remain down. He frowns at his lending habits and tells him to give his clients payment conditions that make them go away. He hasn't seen how he went wrong in everything. He felt betrayed instead. Betrayed by the church he built from the ground up with his own money. Self justification was building up in his heart and creased on his face. His heart beats wildly. He had sent away his wife because she had constantly came to talk him out of accepting the contract. She too had fallen to Pastor Femi's spell. Who would just leave an opportunity like that. Are we all not living in Lagos? Even with the air conditioner turned on, sweats still dotted his face, tickled down and dampened his shirt at the back. "Forget about the past, you still have your presence to prove a point" that was the last echo in Jasper's head. This voice vibrated down to his heart. For a while as he sat on the black leather chair in his living room, the phrase began to make sense to him. He raised his weary head up and reminded himself that "money answereth all things." Quoting that holy scripture in a wrong context to justify himself revived him. He can now see clearly the ways he had saved the church from going down the pit with his money. All his friends makes money any how and they give to the pastor, pastor Femi will be sniffing like greyhound to figure out how he made money before he can take it. Who is he to tell him how to make money. He had started making money since he was 12 years old. His friends had warned him to leave but he saw how the church influences the children to be well behaved and how they excel in their endeavours. " Let pastor Femi work on his kids and let him be now" he soliquised. He inhaled a large lump of oxygen and exhaled all the pain and sorrow away. "That church must be very ungrateful" he muttered to himself as he shook his head. There was something tugging in his sleeves. He made up his mind to show the local assembly that they can't go very far without his money. Watch out for the next episode...
